Joseph Christopher McCaffrey, age 76, of Shelton passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dolores Erickson McCaffrey for 44 years,10 months. He was the loving father of Joseph Eric McCaffrey and his wife Amanda Dunlap and Christina Erin Valko and her husband Slavomir. Mr. McCaffrey was the loving grandfather of Alexander Liam Valko. Mr. McCaffrey was a member of the New York City Fire Department for 36 years, serving as both a Firefighter and Fire Marshall. He was a U.S. Army Veteran with the 10th Mountain Division, serving from 1954 to 1956. Mr. McCaffrey enjoyed golf, swimming, tennis and walks on the beach.
